China is throwing a party, a big party and this party has a theme.  That theme is red, red and RED ( I hope you have a red outfit to wear!) This year on the 1st of July marks the 90th birthday of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and there’s going to be lots of fun ‘Red’ celebrations and regulations implemented so that all of us in China can throw a celebration the Communists Party deserves, right!?

Now that outfit is totally HOT!!!

What are we celebrating?

The Communist Party of China was founded in Shanghai in 1921 after the collapse of the Qing Dynasty and subsequently the unrest that followed.  Civil war raged throughout China from 1927 until 1949 when CPC defeated their rivals the Kuomintang (KMT Chinese Nationalist Party) and took control over mainland China.  Since then the CPC have remained in power as a one party government, now that’s something to celebrate! Such a long political dominance is quite an accomplishment!

What entertainment can we expect?

The CPC have pulled out all the entertainment stops for this party, from KTV to blockbuster movies there is something catering to everyone tastes.

China’s answer to You Tube,  You Ku is celebrating in a big way with a dedicated 90th anniversary channel with everything from interviews of ‘Great’ people to videos of songs that will just make your heart swell making you want to say ‘God bless China’ (…and then you remember China is not a religious nation let alone a Christian nation!)

Expect to here new and old ‘Red Songs’ (revolutionary songs) online and playing across all of China’s airwaves.  You will get songs such as ‘Love of the Red Flag’ and ‘Good Men Should Become Soldiers’ stuck in your head for sure! If those titles don’t make your want a sing then nothing will. And if you question the message they’re sending think again, think about it, who doesn’t love a good old red flag and a lot of chicks dig soldiers so these songs are certainly not only sending the right message but are completely relevant particularly to Chinese youths of today!

Turn on the TV and you will be treated to even more great entertainment! Over the next few months Chinese TV will have a very revolutionary programing theme. Many popular soap opera’s have been temporarily put on hiatus and replaced with more appropriate and entertaining revolutionary dramas.

But this has nothing on the treat you get on the Shanghai Metro, oh no, the CPC have figured out how to give everyone ‘Red’ entertainment while on the run to work.  Small TVs screen charming videos of red songs performed by sweet little children all dressed up in sweet little revolutionary inspired outfits of years gone by.

Throw your own ‘Red’ theme party!

If partying on the metro is really not your thing then why not throw your own CPC Aniversary party!? Head out to KTV where you can belt out tear jerking and inspirational revolutionary ballads. If your not much of a singer you could host a movie night and screen “The Founding of a Republic” a blockbuster revolutionary movie released in 2009 boasting some of the most well known Chinese and Hong Kong actors including Jet Li and Jackie Chan. While your in the mood for movies head down to your local Chinese ciniema and check out the latest ‘Red’ blockbuster  “The Beginning of the Great Revival” released not at all ‘coincidentally’ coinciding with the CPC 90th anniversary.

Now if that’s not enough celebration for you wait until you see the decorations!
