Strange Shanghai: Chinglish Sign, No Padding?
No Padding…Well that’s obvious just by looking at this fence. It turns out padding is not exactly what this sign should be saying and once you factor in the location you will understand why. This sign is located right above a canal. What it should in fact be saying is no paddling!
This sign is yet another example of the hilariousness of Chinglish translations! Though since the expo humorous signs such as this are few and far between so when I came across this little spelling blunder out in Gubei district I couldn’t help but be excited, Chinglish signs in Shanghai are not completely extinct, yet. So to all you people who live out in Gubei soak up the hilariousness while it lasts!

I swear I thought that was a guy holding another guy’s head underwater or something. I thought it should say, “NO DROWNING YOUR FRIEND.” But how does the picture lend itself to paddling in a boat? Where’s the boat? Love these Chinglish. Hope they never stop.
